Astronomy Starmaps Will Help You Find Your Way

Astronomy starmaps, or skymaps as they're sometimes called are available online, sometimes as a free download. For a budding amateur astronomer, they are invaluable. Let's take a look at one site that offers free astronomy starmaps.

The first thing you need to do to join the millions of stargazers is to obtain your astronomy starmaps, of course. Then go outside and find yourself a place far away from the bright city lights so that you can get a great view of the sky at night. Give yourself about ten minutes to let your eyes adjust to the dark before you start to use your astronomy sky starmaps. You may also want a set of astronomy binoculars or a telescope to study the various stars, planets, nebula, asteroids, meteors and other objects in the sky.

To help you get started finding your way around the sky at night, this site provides astronomy star maps free each month. This two-page guide walks you through how to recognize the sky in both the northern hemisphere as well as the southern. In each astronomy star maps issue you'll find not only a detailed map of the sky but a calendar for the month that tells you what objects will be residing where. You'll also get guidance from these starmaps about the celestial objects you'll be able to see with your own eyes, as well as the ones you can view through binoculars and the ones for which you'll need a telescope.

Clearly, these starmaps and guides are invaluable tools to get you started in stargazing.
