telescope at just under $1,000 dollars compared to other apochromatics that
are thousands.
The Orion 100mm ED Apochromatic aperture provides 56% greater light
gathering ability than the ED 80. Its 900mm focal length is perfect for
visual planetary and lunar study and performs well for imaging work as well. Also good at collecting light is the Orion Apex 127mm Compact Maksutov telescope.
Orion has designed the 100mm ED Apochromatic refractor telescope with a
36 inch aluminum tube that is equipped with a 2 inch Crayford-style focuser
for extremely smooth focusing with no backlash.
