Vixen A80MF 80mm Telescope

Enjoying and using the Vixen A80MF 80mm telescope with Porta Mount 3226 tripod comes easy because the model combines high quality for the beginner with an equally low price that enables that same beginner to decide if nighttime sky viewing and amateur astronomy might be for him or her, all without breaking the bank to do so. Many people, after testing it out, would say that it's the perfect such 'scope for the job.

The Vixen looks like the classic backyard telescope. A long white tube contains the optics package, and it all sits on a very attractive, sturdy and well-working tripod mount, called the Porta Mount 3226. It relies entirely on the handler to "slew" (move) the telescope manually, teaching the beginning star gazer how to find sky objects without benefit of a computer controller to do so automatically.

The telescope is rock solid, and slides easily on its mount tracks. When the user stops its movement, the 'scope stays stopped and on its target. This feature is something not normally seen in a telescope of this type and in this price range (under 500 dollars). There's no micro-adjusting needed, in other words, which is also something not normally available at this price point.

Although the company refers to the Vixen A80MF 80mm telescope model as a beginner's instrument, it's actually a bit larger than such normal neophyte-type sky watching tools. The 10mm larger aperture (over its cousin, the A70Lf) provides more detail from many objects within the solar system and even the deep night sky.

The Vixen is also great for looking close-up at terrestrial objects and can also allow a person to gaze at sun spots with the optional sun projection accessory. It puts these spots up on a white surface, as one should NEVER look at the sun directly. All in all, the A80MF 80mm brings the real world of astronomy to a person for a price that's hard to believe in a model with so many standard features.
