What Is A Radio Telescope
Many people have heard of a radio telescope, few know what is a radio
telescope. A radio telescope basically is able to receive radio waves
from space.
It consists of a recorder which keeps a record of the signal. The signal
is directly recorded to a computer memory disk, then astronomers using
sophisticated software analyze the data.
In order to collect incoming radio waves, the telescope is equipped with
one or more antennas. They are usually parabolic dishes that reflect the
radio waves to a receiver. A Yagi antenna is normally used for radio
astronomy.
